The videos have fast cut shots that are in time with the dance beat, this then sustains audience interest and prevents boredom. They have close up shots of people to show the individual roles of the people in the video. also there are fast shots that add the sense of realism that there would be in a dance environment. There are a range of mid-shots of people dancing in time with the beat to further contribute to the sense of realism. Everyone in each video look happy and they look like they are enjoying themselves, which is what dance music tries to portray. The people in the videos make the atmosphere live, to add further realism for the audience, they have either filmed the videos with a group of people where we can see that they are all having a good time. There is slow motion editing used to contrast with the fast edited shots in the videos, this allows the audience to focus on certain aspects purposely designed to be focused on.
The rise of disco in the early 1970's led to dance music becoming popular with the public. By the 1970's, electronic dance music started to develop.
